The reel works great and is very durable. I found it amazingly simple to assemble that my 6yr old put it together with the directions given! It is quick and easy to use. The only draw back is that the handle isn't collapsable (it permanantly sticks out) which detracts from the overall apperance. It's a quick turn of the reel and I've got the job ready to start as well as wrapped up! This is especially important to those with minimal time to spend time on stowing a hose by wrapping it up manually, I've got better things to do.

This is the simplest gadget that is a labor saver to help keep things neat around the house. Easy installation but requires buyer assembly. It still gets five stars, Although the cost is higher than those made from plastic, this is a product that will age with the house. The others will need triple the replacement to match the life of this reel. But I'd bet you wouldn't get as much satisfaction if you used the less expensive brands. This reel isn't meant for transient renters or those that will anticipate moving every couple of years, but for people who plan to occupy the premises for a greater length of time. The only condition about this reel is to think hard about whether you'd want a side-winding reel or one that is reeled perpendicular to the house. I drag the hose parallel to the house before I rewind the hose. The price is very competitive, which makes buying this reel a better choice from those that are plastic based. Shop around and compare, you might want to get a Rolls Royce instead of a Pinto.

I was tired of plastic hose reels breaking every year. Could not find a metal reel locally, so found this one on the net. It SHOULD last a long time.
