This is one of the few lights that can be used as flush mount pathway lights and it is handsome, but it is not its only/primary use. The housing is attractive and well made. We like not having little pole lights sprouting up everywhere. The electricians who installed it had no issues, but many of the ground stems were easily broken by the clumsy patio workmen. Anyway, like all stem in ground mounts, the ground gets wet and it tilts. To keep it up we put the front edge right on the patio, but it swings around. We like it enough that we're going to put them on front walkway, but I'm concerned about how lawnmowers will deal with them. Also the light is cast horizontally across the patio (i.e., its not cast downward like a short pole light), so if one is seated the lights may glare a little if looked at directly. For that reason it works better on pathways that on patios.
