I always had a side burner, as it allows me to make pasta in the summer without heating up my whole apartment.I was slightly disappointed to learn that there was no option to purchase the Prestige Grill with a side-burner and wound up with an extra shelf that I don't need. Assembly was straigh-forward, but did require that it be done from underneath. Once assembled, it was quite stable.Keep in mind, so far, I have only tried this in the winter and it took a long time to get 8 quarts of water to boil. I also noticed the flame didn't reduce enough to give me enough range to simmer at a very low leve. I guess that is because it would risk that it go out in a wind gust.I like the fact that the burner cover is flush with the rest of the unit so that it can be fully functional as a work shelf when not in use.Since my side burner requirements are not that critical, I feel it is still quite functional for me. I guess, since I have that extra right side panel, one day, I might customize an alternative burned into that unit, but I don't think it's worth the effort.Once the weather gets above freezing, I may find the heat output more than adequate.
