Heat large, cool basement.
Experienced a shipping delay, but with adequate notification. Arrived in good condition
the product works well - exactly as advertised. I bought this product to save on my heating oil bills which are astronomical
My husband loves his new space heater. The design is great -- the flat panel allows for easy placement. It heats up quickly -- give it time to heat up a room or area, as that's how it works.... better than radiant heat.
I purchased 2 units, after reviewing the product on many review/seller websites. I'm impressed with the quality of the unit, very much unlike the typical spaceheaters you will find at your local brick & mortar. Having a unit that you can mount on the wall - eliminating the tripping hazards and frankly being in the way was one of the most attractive features; but after installing/using the heater, there's more.
Safety: Wall mount is extremely secure, it comes with a bracket (plastic) which is held in place with 2 screws (I did use my own drywall anchors, not the plastic plug type that came with unit, as I live in earthquake territory). After sliding the unit onto the bracket, it's further secured at the bottom against the wall by 2 additional screws that prevent it from sliding up and off the bracket. Given my location (SF Bay Area Hills) I'm particular about mounting things due to our quake hazard and am 100% comfortable with the designs secure mount. The rear of the unit while on max setting, is barely warm to the touch, so no need to worry about walls.
Conservation: Running my whole house forced air heat, a typical bill ranges from 150-200 dollars for heat depending on the season. I'd anticipate this unit in my climate will run 5-10 hours a day; estimated monthly cost 15-30 dollars. I have a product called kill-a-watt which is a device that plugs into an outlet, and your appliance/device plugs into it providing for a near exact measure of electrical draw. Measuring my unit on LOW, the draw is initally high (900watts) and levels off as the unit heats (752watts) - the standby draw when the unit has cycled due to thermostat setting registers as zero watts. So this isn't one of those things in the house that silently run up your electric bill.
Effectiveness: I tested the heat from the units prior to installing so I had a good idea of how well the radiant heat was thrown, it would be best to locate them so the "beam" of radiant heat from the micathermic plate goes across areas of draft; so in this case I installed it so the "beam" of heat goes across a sliding glass door which is quite drafty. The wall is 16' long, at max distance, you can feel the radiant heat from the unit nicely. So in short there are 2 mechanisms of heat provided by the unit, it's radiant heat (good for drafts) then it's convective heat for the room. I'd suggest using the "beam" just as I did, so that it goes across any drafty area; it does come out of the front of the heater at a rather wide angle; so the radiant heat will be felt in about 1/2-3/4 of the room space; and the convective heat will address the remainder. I would also suggest that you test the unit before determining any mounting location; as the radiant heat is extremely effective, placing your heater so that your bed is in that beam; you may well sleep with nothing but sheets (if that), as it does feel several degrees warmer in that beam; and I can say with certainty, that feature alone will help keep my heating bills down this winter. I may order one more unit, and place it on my kitchen floor (raised, little to no insulation underneath) I'd be interested to see how the radiant heat addresses that issue!
Sound: As others have said, it's near silent; no more noise then what you would expect from a heating element on your stove, or your toaster. There's the occasional thermal expansion and the thermostat "click" when it cycles.
Smell: The odor that comes from the unit when first used is minimal; no different than any other new heater. If it bothers you, power it up outside/garage on MAX for 5-10 minutes and problem solved. Some of the claims here about the smell are a little dramatic :)
I'm giving the unit a solid 5/5 - Safety and efficiency, excellent heat output and the "beam" of radiant heat will address leaky windows/doors with ease.
Chose overnight, manufacturer box isn't the strongest (recycled) and this isn't shipped in an outter container. Since I knew this was going to come from the East Coast to California, I wanted to shorten the time in which the product was in the hands of UPS.
Will buy from again, good price; excellent communication.
It heats up the den, where I spend my evening time, saving me $$$ instead of heating the rest of the house (where I'm not). And so quiet! And easy to understand and set - love the simple, programmable feature. Love this product!
Excellent, prompt service
This heater keeps my small bedroom warm and cozy. I no longer dread climbing out from under the covers in the morning. And my mom likes it because the risk from fire is so low.
We use the heater in our basement. It is a large open area and keeps the kids warm when they are with friends in the basement. It puts out lots of heat and is energy efficient.
The product is very efficent. I've actually have the heat unit on the lower settings and it works great.
I use this product to heat one room when alone in a large house. It works nicely--waiting to see the [hopefully lower] heating bill.
This has been perfect for our living room. The room has always felt drafty, no matter what we did. The only noise it produces is a light click when the therm kicks on. I have mine up against a wall in a walkway. Haven't had a problem with it getting in the way tho since its so thin. I can't rate it for the workshop since mine is an unheated garage but I will be testing it soon.
I've had this heater for a few weeks, and find I use it nearly every day.
Aesthetically speaking, it's very attractive - it's streamline and sleek, not big and bulky - and the black and silver fit quite nicely with my modern decor.
Functionally speaking, it's incredibly quiet - if it weren't for the heat eminating from it I wouldn't even know it was ON - and it heats up quickly, evenly and effectively.
I like that there are several temperatures from which to choose, and once the room is the desired temp, all it takes is a turn of the dial for it to regulate itself to maintain that particular temperature.
I'm very happy with this purchase, and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends, family and to those of you reading this review.
I use this heater to heat only the area I am in and I am able to keep my gas heat thermostat down to 60 degrees. It works very well in an enclosed space, such as a bathroom or large bedroom when the door is closed (not while sleeping)but it needs to be kept close by to keep you warm in an open area in which case a fan would be helpful. It is easily wheeled or carried even while hot to another area. [$] Depending on the expected energy savings I may purchase a second heater so I don't have to move one from room to room.
This is a great unit. I have it in my office which is about 12'x12' and it keeps the room nice and confortable. It looks good (nice modern look)and is quiet. When you first turn it on, a strange smell lasts for a few minutes. Nothing major.
We use the heater to keep our baby's room warm at night. Once we figured out the thermostat controls, it has been wonderful and allowed her to sleep longer at night. Although the heater is rather large, the wall mounting ability covers this problem by moving it to a nice location and quite out of the way.
This is a very good product. Gave it to my wife for Christmas and she is always complaining that she was cold. No more. She loves it. She states it heats up the whole room to a toasty temperature and it doesn't dry out the air. I like how you can mount it on a wall.
The Delonghi HHP 1500 does a phenomenal job in heating my son's bedroom in a very timely & efficient manner.
I would highly recommend this product to anyone who needs a portable & safe heater.
The delivery of the heater was prompt & it also arrived in excellent condition.
This is a sleek looking heater that I use to heat the bedroom overnight. Produces a nice comfortable radiant heat. My only slight complaint is that every time the heater restarts it creates slight expansion sounds as the panel heats up for the first few minutes. Although I do prefer this noise to a typical heater fan restarting throughout the night. Heats a medium sized room very well. A nice cozy heat. You would think I had a wood stove in the room.
The heater works great to keep the room at a desired temp. It's safe and looks great!
The heater got here in no time. I would use Homeclick again and recommend it highly.
It is amazing how well this works in our upstairs room that has very little heat or insulation. It warms with no noise or fan blowing around hot air and dust.
Heater efficiently supplies additional heat to rooms in homes that never seem to get enough heat (such as rooms that butt up to a garage)
Very convienent to move from room to room. Lightweight and slim design, makes it practical.
This unit did not deliver heat so it is of no use as a heater. We tryed one unit on high power for one hour and were able to place hand on front grill, so it is not too hot to touch...but again there was no heat.
The concept of the heater seems great and the design and size was good, easy to move around or wall mount which we were going to do. We may have one dud unit here so perhaps others have better experience.
Chefscorner was the fastest shipper I have experienced to date on over 5 years of internet shopping. Will highly recommnd for great prices, fast shipping and convenient website use.
Excellent quality product,[...] Takes awhile to heat our sunroom because it is two full sides of floor-to-ceiling glass windows and 3 skylights! We bought two because the room is 16'X 26'. After it's reached it's maximum, we actually have to turn it down 2 notches because it's too warm! It would be nice if it had an auto thermostat. Plan to buy a DeLonghi air conditioner next summer because these are so great! [...]
Use in the master bath.approximately 200 sq f. , high ceiling, gets heat up in no time.
Great sleek design and works amazingly well.
Great for a large bathroom and safe
Love the design. We bought three of them as a supplement to our rising heating bills...heating just the room we're in instead of the whole house. It works well for this purpose.Heats small rooms like bedrooms well, and is not quite powerful enough for larger living areas.
We use this as an energy-efficient backup to keep temperatures up for a cactus collection in our conservatory. We feel more comfortable knowing our plants won't be lost to freezing winter temperature, but our pets face no safety risk from the heat source. Added benefit: it takes up very little space with the optional wall mounting.
I didn't see the first PG&E bill since we bouhgt it yet. If it's dicent, i will buy one for every room :).
