This is for looks only as far as I can tell. It makes the pellet stove look beautiful.
The problem is that it is very fragile, in addition there is no way to anchor it permanantly. When I clean the pellet stove they (the 2 pieces) move around and need to be set back into place in EXACTLY the right position. Overall, they do the job...they changed the appearance of the pellet stove dramatically..
