- What are Swing-N-Slide's normal business hours?
Normal business hours are from 7:00am to 5:00pm Central Standard Time, Monday through Friday. Weekend Support is available between the hours of 10:00am and 5:00pm from mid April through Labor Day, including the Memorial Day and Fourth of July Holidays.
- Where can I purchase Swing-N-Slide products?
Through most lumberyards and home centers throughout US and Canada. Swing-N-Slide does not sell directly to consumers. Refer to our Store Locator to find a retailer near you.
- Do I need a level area?
Yes, we recommend a flat level area upon which the play equipment will sit in order to maintain maximum stability.
- Should I nail the set together or use screws?
Nailing is satisfactory, however wood screws provide exceptional holding power and eliminate the chance of marring the wood with a hammer.
- What type of wood should I use?
Any type which is recommended for outdoor projects such as decks, playground equipment or water front projects.
- What kind of surface should I have under and around my kit?
Soft surfaces, laid after installation, are ideal under your swing set. Never place your swing set over hard surfaces like blacktop, concrete or packed earth where injury could result in the event of a fall. The CPSC recommends the following loose fill surfacing materials: wood mulch (9” depth), double shredded bark mulch (9” depth), uniform wood chips (12” depth), fine sand (12” depth) and fine gravel (12” depth). Refer to the Safe Assembly Practices for more complete information on surfacing materials.
- What features should I look for when selecting a swing set for my family?
First and foremost, the swing sets frame work needs to be sturdy. Corner posts should be at least 4”x4”s and swings should be hung off a 4”x6” (or two laminated 2”x6”s) beam. You should also consider the space you have available in your yard. This is often referred to as the “Minimum Use Zone”. The “Minimum Use Zone” encompasses the space required by the swing set, as well as the recommended clearance space around the set to ensure the safest possible play area. A swing set should also offer challenges that allow for your children’s growth and development for years to come. Outdoor play promotes the physical, imaginative, social and cognitive development of your children.
- What price should I expect to pay?
You can save $100s – $1,000s by building your family a Swing-N-Slide® swing set. Complete units range from $150 – $2,000 depending on the design and current lumber prices. Please see a sales associate for current pricing.
- Are Swing-N-Slide® swing sets and accessories safe for children?
Absolutely! All products, when assembled to plan, meet or exceed American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) guidelines for residential use.
- Do Swing-N-Slide® products come with a warranty?
Yes. All products carry at least a 1-year warranty on defective parts. All slides, the Discovery Mountain™ and our Extra-Duty products are backed with a Lifetime Warranty. Please see each product for unique warranty information.
- How many people does it take to build a Swing-N-Slide® Do-It-Yourself swing set?
The estimated building times vary for each project. All estimated building times are based on two (2) people with basic building experience. Please see the individual estimates listed below each project in the brochure.
- Will I need any special tools for assembly of my Swing-N-Slide® swing set?
The following tools are required for the best building experience: Circular Saw, Electric Drill, Hammer, Safety Glasses, Tape Measure, Pencil, Square, 1-1/8” Spade Bit, 5/16” Drill Bit and a Phillips Head Screwdriver.
- What size area do I need for a swing set?
Each swing set project has a different space requirement. Please see each individual project for space requirements.
- Will it be a problem if my yard is not level or slopes?
Yes, we recommend a flat level area upon which the swing beam’s “A” frame will sit in order to maintain maximum stability. If your backyard is not level, we recommend leveling out an area large enough for the set prior to construction.
- Should I paint or seal the completed swing set?
A wood stain or sealer will protect your swing set and keep it looking new. However, we do not recommend painting your swing set. Please see a store associate for assistance in selecting the best wood stain or sealer for your swing set. | |
