A protective gasket is installed on the wall plate of all the lanterns. This gasket isolates the lantern from wall and prevents leaching of corrosive substances onto the brass finish.
Samples of units have been subjected to a 120-hour accelerated salt spray test (ASTM B117) with no visible deterioration. Comparative testing of competitive products failed within 24 hours compared to the BrassGuard lanterns which lasted over 120 hours.
